St. Joan’s Haven
As part of a ‘housing first’ initiative to respond to the needs of aging members of the community that not only need housing, but mental health and addictions counseling, St. Joan’s Haven is planned as a 40 bed supportive housing for Lethbridge. The design process considered similar facilities throughout the province, community consultation, academic research undertaken at the University of Lethbridge, engagement with the City of Lethbridge and Alberta Health Services. The B2 occupancy facility combines the requirements of continuing care with mental health. Unique features of the design include suites with exceptionally durable finishes, safe zones, a round chapel and varied common spaces easily supervised by staff. Currently on hold, a smaller pilot program was initiated out of St. Michael’s Health Centre.
