St. Teresa Place
Redstone is planned as a 250 bed supportive living facility in northeast Calgary. This modern facility will be innovative both in terms of facility layout, size and construction. A LEAN review process during the schematic design phase helped determine optimal space relationships, ensuring operational efficiency and varied intimate spaces for the residents. Although a large facility, each resident will live in a smaller pod of 12 and take meals communally in larger dining rooms, engaging in daily activities in various amenity spaces. Innovative structural precast concrete construction ensures a durable and attractive building erected under a compressed schedule. Efficient lot utilization has also allowed the facility to be planned with generous diverse landscaping of edible and flowering gardens, intended to become a community asset to Redstone neighbourhood. Covenant Care intends for this facility to be both an exemplary facility in the province for providing excellence in seniors care and as a focal point in the community as a welcoming environment for the entire neighbourhood.
“Our approach with a new Supportive Living Community in Redstone was to build with full precast concrete. The Consultant team lead by FWBA worked with the Contractor as a cooperative and creative team. This has resulted in a striking new home for the care of elderly in an efficient, innovative and cost-effective durable building. The bright, airy and colourful modern interiors are particularly well-received by staff, residents and their families.”
